POLYCRYSTALLINE PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULES

 

Polycrystalline module, or multicrystalline, has efficiencies slightly lower than mono, about between 16 and 18% and it needs a slightly larger surface in order to produce 1Kwp of power: 7 square meters are needed.

During the years the difference between poly output and mono one has been gradually reducing.

The lower price makes them the most widespread solution, so that in Italy around 80% of installed modules is poly type. The polycrystalline module in fact represents a good compromise between costs, occupied surface, production yield and effiency.

Also this kind of module, like monocrystalline one, produces for at least 25 years with output physiological loss of about 1% per year, slightly lower that the monocrystalline one, losses due to module aging and consequent loss of photovoltaic effect.

The best performances are achieved in areas characterized by a higher temperature.
